Note: this is in my web section because it debuted on Hulu in the U.S., but it later aired on City TV in Canada.

An animated comedy series starring Eva Longoria as Rudi Wilson, an executive from a record label called Mass Exploitation. To avoid being fired and disgraced after a scandal involving one of her company's newest artists, a rapper named 2Bit, she resigns and moves to a suburb called Willowdale, with her young son and daughter, Dick and Apple. After they arrive, she discovers that her husband has left them. Rudi wants to believe she'll be an excellent mother, because she believes she's great at everything. However, she's pretty clearly a terrible mother. She knows nothing about her kids, because until now, they've basically been raised by a nanny. And Rudi is totally self-involved, only interested in having fun and crushing any competitors. So, giving up her lavish lifestyle in the city, and actually having to deal with her kids, is a major challenge.

She soon meets a timid housewife named Sarah, who becomes her best friend in Willowdale. Sarah has a weird (or perhaps developmentally challenged) son named Fergus. Another new friend is a guy named Greg, a widower with a stepson named Joel, who hates him. Rudi basically just uses Sarah and Greg to help her with everything from household and parenting chores she doesn't want to do herself, to random crazy schemes they're hesitant about... but they're easily manipulated. She also meets the local queen bee, Jenny, who is the president of the PTA and pretty much everything else, and has a clique of other mothers who follow her around. Rudi and Jenny quickly become enemies, and when Rudi eventually decides she's sick of Willowdale and wants to go back to the city, Sarah convinces her to stay in order to crush Jenny. The way to do this is to beat her at mothering, which... continues to be a challenge. Because, despite her efforts, she doesn't really change much at all. Though she does get some help from 2Bit, who likes her because she's the only person who tells him the truth (that he's an idiot), so she keeps him grounded in reality... to some extent. (He still has a pet polar bear named Snowball, and still does crazy stuff.) There are various other minor characters I should probably mention, like Agnes, an Asian girl on whom Dick has a crush (and whose mom is very strict, and becomes another one of Rudi's parenting rivals).

Rudi is a lot like Longoria's most famous role, Gabrielle Solis from Desperate Housewives. She also reminds me of Nina Van Horn from Just Shoot Me! (and she even sounds a lot like Wendie Malick, to me). There are probably actually any number of characters from other shows to whom I could compare Rudi. So maybe the show hasn't got the most original premise, but it's reasonably amusing, which is all that matters. Oh, I also like the opening theme, by Lee Anna James. And it seems each episode will have a different closing theme. Anyway, I dunno what else to say. Except I guess the first season is just 13 episodes, and I have no idea if there'll be another season. But I'd certainly like to see the show continue.
