Snake 'n' Bacon, Cartoon Network
Adult Swim Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia

So I guess this is based on comics by Michael Kupperman. I've never read his stuff, but I probably should. Anyway, this was like an 11-minute thing that aired on adult swim in 2009, as a potential pilot. But since it didn't get picked up as a series, I'm calling it a special. It's very weird and surreal and terribly amusing, if you like weird, surreal comedy. It's basically a series of barely-animated, utterly absurd sketches, as well as live-action sketches. The main characters are like... props, basically. Snake is a snake, who only hisses, and Bacon is a strip of bacon, who only says bacon-related things. But everyone around them seems to act as if what they're saying (or hissing) is relevant to whatever's going on. The animated sketches are essentially unrelated to the bits featuring Snake and Bacon (who aren't in the animated bits), though ultimately it does seem like there's some vague connection to everything, after all. Also, Kristen Schaal appears in a few brief scenes as "the Green Fairy".

Um... the whole thing kinda reminds me of Monty Python's Flying Circus, though actually it's more based on... older stuff than that, I dunno. Anyway, that's all I can think to say. You can watch some clips from the special on adultswim.com, which I think add up to very nearly the whole pilot. It's a shame it didn't become a series, but I can't say I'm surprised.
