A live performance (on January 31, 2016) of a musical play that combines elements both of the original 1971 stage musical and the 1978 theatrical version of Grease. It aired on FOX, apparently inspired by the success of the live musicals NBC has done over the past few years, starting with The Sound of Music. When I first heard about this production, maybe a few months before it aired, I think I wasn't really interested in watching. I can't remember why I felt that way, though. But by the week leading up to its broadcast, I found myself really wanting to check it out. It started at 7pm, an hour before the season finale of Galavant (on ABC), so I watched the first hour of Grease. I figured if I didn't like it, I could just switch over to the other show when it started, otherwise I could record Galavant while continuing to watch Grease, if I did like it. And... I liked it. But my DVR, for some reason, refused to let me record Galavant, which was more important to me. So I switched over to that, after all. And... maybe the rest of Grease got recorded, I need to check on that. But I don't think it would have started until about ten minutes after I started watching my other show. If that's the case, I won't watch the recording. But it is, at least for now, streaming online. So far this year my internet hasn't been fast enough to watch stuff online, so I don't know if I'll get to watch it that way, either. And I'm really disappointed I didn't get to see it live, because that's the whole point. That's what makes it special.

So I can't really say anything much about the show, for now. But I will say that I what I did see of it, I thought the singing and acting were both okay. And the cast included some familiar people, including Carly Rae Jepsen as Frenchy, Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo, Keke Palmer (whom I know from Scream Queens) as Marty, Ana Gasteyer as Principal McGee, and... maybe a few other familiar people. (But there were plenty of people I definitely don't know from anything else.) Anyway, if I ever do get around to seeing the whole thing, I'll say more.
