Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, on ABC
ABC; Disney Wiki; IMDb; Wikipedia; YouTube
streaming sites: Disney+; Hulu

This aired on December 15, 2022 (but I watched it the next day on Disney+). It's meant, per the title, to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Beauty and the Beast, though it actually took place awhile after the movie's 31st anniversary. The special was hosted by Rita Moreno, and included both scenes from the 1991 film and live performances by a new cast, mostly for songs and dance. (There's also one song, "Evermore", from the 2017 remake of the original film.) Belle was played by H.E.R., the Beast by Josh Groban, Lumière by Martin Short, Cogsworth by David Alan Grier (which I thought was an interesting choice because it almost rhymes with David Ogden Stiers, who voiced Cogsworth in the original movie), Mrs. Potts by Shania Twain, and other characters by people who were unfamiliar to me. I don't feel the need to explain any of the plot here, because it's exactly the same as the animated movie. But I will say I enjoyed all the new performances, and the costumes, and everything. I don't really know what else to say except it was just a lot of fun.
