So you see, for some while prior to David Letterman moving to CBS, the network would air a bunch of different shows under the label "Crimetime After Primetime" each weeknight after the 11pm local news. A different show for each night of the week, and sometimes a show would disappear and be replaced by something else, so there were eventually more than the original 5 series. I can't quite remember the order of all this, anymore. And I'm not sure whether I'm forgetting any series or not.
Let's begin...
Dangerous Curves
IMDb; TV Tome
These two women were like... I dunno, cops or something. I don't remember it well, but it was probably about the worst of the CTAPT shows, in my opinion.
Dark Justice
IMDb; In2TV; TV Tome
This series was one of the better ones in the CTAPT lineup, IMO, perhaps tied with Sweating Bullets for my second favorite. It was a kind of interesting show about a judge named Nick Marshall (who was played by two different actors in the course of the series) who used to be a lawyer who used to be a cop. And the system keeps failing, criminals go free and stuff, but he kept believing in the system. Until his family ended up getting killed by some criminals who went free or something, so he put together a group of petty criminals who weren't really bad folks, and he let them go free when their cases came before him, so they'd have to help him out with their talents, in his quest to bring really bad criminals to justice. They were all vigilantes, of course, and while the media loved them and called them the Night Watchmen, this one lawyer who was always losing cases wanted to find out who these people were and put a stop to their efforts, despite the fact that without them he'd probably never win any cases (at the end of the episode after he lost the cases the first time around). Anyway... um, kinda cool show I guess. There were four people on the team at any given time. Always had the judge, plus two guys (Moon and Gibs) and a girl, but there were a few different girls. Whenever one was lost, she'd be replaced. Um, dunno what else to say.
This was about this American operative who was undercover in East Germany before the Berlin Wall was torn down. He was framed to look like a traitor, so he couldn't return home. I guess the series was set in Paris or something, where he was hanging around, helping folks or whatever, and meanwhile trying to prove his innocence. I can't really remember more than that, but it wasn't bad. Sort of middling fare for CTAPT.
A few people had a little plane which they used in a charter flight business or whatever, and um... I guess they always somehow seemed to get into some kind of trouble or whatever. I don't remember it well. It didn't suck. But it wasn't one of CTAPT's better series.
A pretty cool Canadian show about a vampire in the Toronto police department who wants to regain his humanity. Easily the best show on CTAPT. For a bit longer entry, see supernatural & paranormal 3.
Scene of the Crime
IMDb; TV Tome
I barely remember this. Stephen J. Cannell hosted it. I think it was sort of an anthology mystery show or something. Can't really tell you anything else, I'm afraid. (Someone had sent an e-mail once with a bit more detail, and I believe I added that here, but it seems to be gone now, I'm not sure what happened....)
Originally a CTAPT show, but it later moved to USA network. It was about homicide detectives who investigated the murders of rich socialites or whatever. It wasn't too bad. Sort of middling fare, from that lineup.
Sweating Bullets
IMDb; TV Tome
Another of my favorite CTAPT shows, either tied with Dark Justice for second, or maybe this is second and DJ a close third. Anyway, this detective, Nick Slaughter, lived on Key Mariah and he was all sort of laid-back and casual and flippant or whatever. I dunno. He was kinda funny, but his partner Sylvie mostly found him annoying, I think. But we liked her. Anyway, it was a fun and funny kinda show while it lasted. Oh yeah, and Nick had a friend named Ian, who was later replaced by a friend named Spider, I guess. (I always found it mildly interesting that Spider was played by a guy named Ian and replaced a character named Ian. But that's just how my silly mind works, sometimes.) Anyway... um, dunno what else to say, except, I liked the theme song....
