I actually think this is a pretty good movie, though one I'm probably not interested in ever seeing a second time. Um... anyway, Matthew Broderick plays this television writer, Taylor Mendon, whose show sucks (and he knows it), and who is nearing the end of his showbiz career. He's married to a woman named Lorraine (Maura Tierney), who controls his finances because he has a gambling addiction. He used to have a drinking and drug problem, but he's apparently been clean a couple years, but the gambling continues, as his last vice. I guess. But he lies to her about it. So, of course, his marriage is in trouble.

Meanwhile, he and Lorraine learn that their niece, Amanda (Brittany Snow), is currently living in Las Vegas, and working as a prostitute. Taylor goes there to look for her, but of course he also ends up gambling, though this requires some lying, since he doesn't actually have access to his own money. But anyway, he finds Amanda, and tries to get her to go to rehab in Malibu. But... her life is kinda complicated, though she claims to be fine with how it is, and doesn't want to leave. Especially considering the irony of who's asking her to do so. And soon, Taylor's drinking habit resurfaces.

There's not much else to say about the plot. It's all kind of hazy. But... there are some bits that are really funny, and some bits that are sad, serious, dramatic. Sort of. I dunno. Actually, now that I think about it, it's not really that good of a movie, but... it's not bad. Just a slice of fucked-up life. Or two fucked-up lives. Whatever. It's okay. Weird, but it had its good moments....
