This 2023 film is based on a 1973 short story by Stephen King, which I haven't read. It begins with an unseen entity pretending to be the father of a toddler, and killing the kid. Then we meet the Harper family: Dad Will, a therapist, teenager Sadie, and her younger sister, Sawyer. Their wife/mother died in a car accident recently, so they're all still grieving. One day, a disturbed man named Lester Billings enters Will's home office without an appointment, and tells him that he's being blamed for killing his three children (one of whom is presumably the kid that got killed at the start of the film). But Lester insists he is innocent, and that it was some kind of monster that killed them. And he shows Will a drawing of the monster, which one of his kids had made before they were killed. Will doesn't believe him, though he tells Lester than he does, and goes to another room to call the police or whatever. Meanwhile, Sadie comes home from school early, and she hears some strange noises. She follows them, and discovers Lester had apparently hanged himself in a closet.

After that, the monster that had killed his children begins stalking Sawyer. At first Will and Sadie both believe it's all in Sawyer's imagination. Eventually Sadie sees the monster for herself. And she visits Lester's widow, Rita, looking for answers. And... I dunno, a bunch of other stuff happens that I don't feel the need to go into detail about. Of course there's eventually a climactic confrontation between the monster and the Harpers, but I don't want to spoil how that goes.

Anyway, I thought the monster, whatever the hell it was, was scary enough. But I don't really know what else to say about the movie. It was basically just okay. Not something I expect to find particularly memorable.
