Summer of...

For some years now, I've been designating my summers as "summer of" certain types of things to watch (mostly movies, but sometimes TV). I wish I'd kept a record of what I watched every summer, but I didn't, and now I've probably forgotten some of them. But I'm also pretty sure I've skipped some years since I started. So for now, here's what I know I've done:

2015: Summer of westerns
(I'm not certain whether or not I watched all of these in the summer, but they were all in 2015. And I'm pretty sure I didn't watch them in this order.)

  • Bite the Bullet, Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Outlaw, The Quick and the Dead

    2016: Summer of horror
I have no idea what movies I watched this summer, aside from Pet Sematary and Graveyard Shift.

2017-2019: I have no idea what, if any, themes I went with these years.

    2020: Summer of Hayley Mills

  • Pollyanna, The Parent Trap, In Search of the Castaways, Summer Magic. (Movies I meant to watch but didn't get to until the next summer include "The Moon-Spinners" and "That Darn Cat!")

    2021: Summer of miniseries

  • The Stand, Treasure Island, Buffalo Girls, The Mists of Avalon

    2022: Summer of beach movies

  • In May, I re-watched "Beach Party" and "Muscle Beach Party" so I could add ratings to my old reviews. In June I watched "Gidget", and I re-watched the TV movie "Rip Girls", and I watched "Bikini Beach". In July I watched Pajama Party, which isn't actually a beach movie but it's part of the "Beach Party" series. And I watched "Beach Blanket Bingo". In August I watched the TV movie "Teen Beach Movie" and Gidget Goes Hawaiian. In September I watched How to Stuff a Wild Bikini and Teen Beach 2 and Psycho Beach Party.

    2023: Summer of Star Trek

  • On Memorial Day, I watched "The Motion Picture". In June, I watched "The Wrath of Khan". In July, I watched "The Search for Spock" and "The Voyage Home". In August, I watched "The Final Frontier" and "The Undiscovered Country" and "Generations". In September, I watched "First Contact" (on Star Trek Day) and "Insurrection" and "Nemesis".
