This 2015 short film was presented by Dust in 2018; re-released in 2024.
Two cartoon creatures discover a video camera and press play. So, most of the film is what they see on the camera, which I guess makes this a "found footage" film. The video they watch was made by a young man named John, who lives in Edinburgh with a flatmate named Michael. One day, a bunch of alien ships appear in the sky, and shoot out... things that turn out to be small creatures that humans call "toons." This happens all over the world. And two of the toons begin living with John and Michael, who call them "David" and "Stephen." The toons don't speak any intelligible language, but they seem friendly enough. And we see occasional segments that John recorded over the course of the next year. After that... I don't want to spoil what happens. I'll just say that ultimately, the short film returns to its framing device, with the two toons we'd seen at the very start, who were watching all this on the camera.
Anyway... the film is both amusing and horrifying, but mostly just weird. And I liked it.
