Josephine and the Roach (14:41)
facebook; IMDb; KQED; PBS; shortfil.ms; Vimeo

This film has no dialogue, but music plays an important role. A woman named Josephine plays the accordion, but she lives with a man (husband or boyfriend, it's unclear) who does nothing but drink beer and watch TV. And he obviously doesn't like her music, or really care about her at all. Meanwhile, there's a stop-motion cockroach living in her apartment wall, who plays a tiny violin. (It's rather amusing that he has a whole miniature apartment of his own inside the wall.) Josephine hears him play his music, and the two of them duet together, though obviously she has no idea she's playing with a cockroach. (I assume that she assumes the music is being played by someone in the next apartment.) But the roach falls in love with her.

Beyond that... I don't want to reveal any of what happens, but it's all amusing and weird and disturbing and sweet.
