This 2019 short film was presented by Alter in 2021 and by Dust in 2022.
So, this was released on Alter, a horror short films collection, prior to being released on its sister channel Dust, a sci-fi short films collection. But while the events in the film are absolutely horrific, I'm listing it under science fiction short films instead of horror. The story is an obvious metaphor for rape and abortion, and as such it is extremely powerful, and extremely disturbing.
It's set in a world with an alternate history in which, as near as I can make out, Jesus Christ was an alien. And now Christianity has a lot to do with... aliens. I don't know, it's pretty confusing. But human men are necessary as hosts for alien offspring. The opening scene sees a happy couple going to a clinic so the husband can get impregnated in the back of his neck. But the main story is about a man named Tanner, who doesn't choose to be a host. He goes on a hunting trip with his boss, an alien named Mr. Walton, who impregnates him by force, against his will. Tanner's wife, Emily, isn't very understanding, and believes this could be a good thing for them, as Tanner is offered a promotion. But Tanner wants to remove the alien fetus, which is against the law as well as against their religion.
That's all I want to say about the plot, but I think it's quite enough for you to see the real world parallels. And I think if you can watch this film and still be anti-choice when it comes to abortion, there's something very wrong with you.
