I discovered this on Halloween Short Films. It's hard for me to think of it as a short film per se, since it's based on a small portion of a script for a feature film, and therefore doesn't really tell a complete story. But it's pretty good for what it is, and I'd certainly like to see a full movie. (I'm pretty sure I'd rate such a movie higher than I did this short.) It begins with a couple of kids, Pete and Ray, talking about something they'd found... which at first we don't see, because they're talking about it over a black screen with the opening credits. But soon we see them put the thing into a cabinet, or whatever, in a shed, and lock it up. It was wrapped in a blanket, but we see a charred arm sticking out.

Later, Pete and Ray finish trick-or-treating on Halloween with their friends Jenny and Tom. Their conversation leads to their revealing their discovery to the latter two. Of course, Jenny and Tom don't believe them, and it doesn't help when the cabinet doesn't contain a body, just the blanket they'd wrapped it in and some... debris. But before long, it turns out that the thing they thought was dead actually wasn't. It got out of the cabinet (I have no idea how, much less how the lock was undisturbed). And it is obviously an alien, though it's still in pretty bad shape. And it seems there are people coming for it (from some sort of secret government agency, I suppose).

That's basically it. But I definitely think there's real potential here. And I don't know what else to say.
