This 2016 short film was presented by Dust in 2018.
Based on a 2012 short story called "Memories of my Mother," by Ken Liu (which I haven't read). In the mid-21st century, a woman has a terminal illness, leaving her with two years to live. She chooses to join a program that lets her travel in space at near light speed, leaving behind her husband and her 3-year-old daughter, Amy. Because of time dilation, time passes more slowly for her than it does for people on Earth, which means she can spread out her two years throughout Amy's lifetime, but only gets to see her for one day every seven years. We don't see every visit, but we see the ones that tell the most important parts of the story.
Well, the basic concept of the story is something I've seen used in various ways, in various other media, and it's always pretty emotionally effective, no less so here. So it's a pretty decent short film, even if 25 minutes isn't really enough time to get to know either of the two main characters very well.
