I wasn't sure where to put this review, but I decided "fantasy" is probably the closest fit. (Otherwise I could have gone with "science fiction" or "weird".) I'm still not entirely comfortable with my choice. Anyway, it's set in two different times. In the past, a man named Bo Li is being shaken down by his landlord, who keeps raising the rent to more than Bo can afford to pay. Bo tries to hold onto a necklace that could get him enough money to take his sick wife to the hospital, but the landlord and his thug steal the necklace. Later, Bo steals it back, and gets chased into an alley, where he stashes the necklace in a mailbox. Then it disappears. In the present, a high schooler named Sam finds the necklace in his own mailbox. He has a bully who has demanded money from him. Eventually he begins passing notes back and forth through the mailbox with Bo, and sends modern tech through the box, as well. For awhile it seems as if Sam could cease to exist, depending on what happens to Bo in the past. (At least, that's how I interpreted the glitches later in the film.) But then, someone else's existence is threatened by events in the past. I don't want to spoil any more than that. But it's definitely an interesting film, even if I don't expect to find it super memorable.
