Ash's Homecoming (8:04/6:23/9:56)
IMDb; YouTube

This is a fan film in three parts. It's a live-action film is based on the anime Pokemon. It begins with young Ash Ketchum arriving at Professor Oak's lab to get his first pokemon and begin his adventures. The story then flashes forward 17 years... to Professor Oak's funeral. Ash and a CGI Pikachu show up a bit late. And after the service, Ash talks to Brock and his wife, Daisy, and their daughter, Lola. Brock asks Ash to go to Cerulean to check up on Misty, who didn't show up for the service, and isn't answering her phone. Along the way, Ash runs into Giovanni, the leader of Team Rocket, who wants him to succeed him as the organization's leader, though of course Ash isn't interested. And when Ash finally gets to Misty's house, he finds out... well, she's in a surprising relationship. And... there's a flashback that explains some things that had happened in the past. (I had guessed something... but was still a bit surprised by the way it was revealed.) Later, Ash gets a call from Brock, saying that all of the pokemon from Oak's lab had been stolen, so he heads back to Pallet Town.

Well, I don't really want to reveal any more of the plot. But I definitely thought the whole thing was well done, with some interesting concepts, and a really sweet ending. And I find it hard to imagine any fan of the series not enjoying the film.
