short films I want to see:
animated * anthology * CGI * Christmas * comix * drama & dramedy * fantasy * horror * sci-fi

There are any number of animated shorts I saw on TV as a kid, probably without being aware at the time that they were originally theatrical shorts. I suppose I'd like to see those again someday, to write reviews. But this page is just for things I've never seen before. Well, maybe a few things I might've seen....

Betty Boop (1930-1939)
One of the most famous cartoon characters ever, and also a classic sex symbol. I don't recall when I first became aware of her, but she had a small role in the 1988 movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and I'm fairly sure I had known of her before that. When I was in college in the mid 90s, I bought a milk mustache t-shirt with her on it, which I don't think I still have, but I don't know what became of it. And... I'm not sure what else to say, except that it's probably been ever since the 80s that the character has had lots of merchandise, and... I dunno, I just like her. So I really should see some of her short films someday.

Felix the Cat (1919-1936)
In 1995, the character appeared in a TV series, "The Twisted Tales of Felix the Cat," which I don't remember well but I'm sure I liked. I don't remember for sure if I'd been aware of the character before that, but I probably had been, at least vaguely. Anyway, I'd kind of like to see some of his old short films.

Oswald the Lucky Rabbit (1927-1943)
An early creation of Walt Disney, prior to Mickey Mouse. I've seen two of his shorts, which didn't impress me enough to care if I never see any more of them, but I wouldn't mind checking others out, if the opportunity presented itself.

Popeye the Sailor (1933-1957)
I must have seen any number of Popeye cartoons on TV when I was quite young, but I barely remember them now, nor do I know whether they were original TV cartoons or if they were older theatrical shorts.

Red Hot Riding Hood (1943)
It's possible I've seen this, but I'm not sure. I probably first became aware of it because of the 1994 movie The Mask, but it's one of the most famous animated shorts ever, and has had an influence on lots of other stuff, apparently. Actually, there are probably lots of other Tex Avery shorts I should see, but most of the ones that would be of interest to me are Looney Tunes.

Superman (1941-1943)
The character, of course, first appeared in comic books in 1938, but over the years I think there have been probably a few movie serials, both live action and animated. I'm only really interested in the Fleischer animated shorts of the early 1940s, which I plan to eventually get on DVD.

World of Tomorrow (2015)
