It's the old story, you know. American girl (Kelly Preston) meets British lord (Colin Firth) in Morocco and gets married by a Bedouin tribe. Lord takes girl home to meet the family. Lord's scheming advisor makes girl go back to the States, while lord is unaware girl is pregnant. Girl raises daughter (Amanda Bynes) alone. Daughter always wishes to meet her father. When she turns 17, girl goes to England to find father. Girl and father bond. Father's family tries to turn girl into something she's not. Girl ends up making father realize who he really is, himself. Girl also meets British musician. Father and musician follow girl and girl's mom back to New York.

That's pretty much it. Okay, so there are a few incidentals, like lord's wicked fiancee and fiancee's wicked daughter and wicked daughter's wicked boyfriend who wants lord's daughter. That sort of thing. Whatever. Anyway. It's a reasonably amusing dramedy. And yes, it can be pretty sappy, but it's funny and quirky enough to make the sappiness not just bearable, but actually enjoyable. Plus the music doesn't suck. That's about all I can think to say.
