Because I can't go to the theater...

Well, I don't never get a chance to go to a movie theater. But it's pretty damn rare, for me. But often times when a movie I want to see opens in theaters, it will affect my choice of what to watch on DVD (or online). Usually it's a movie, but sometimes it'll be like a TV movie or miniseries. The substitution can be based on various things, like if a remake of an old movie has just come out, I might watch the original (or any prior version, if there's more than one). If it's part of a franchise I'm behind on, I could watch an earlier entry in the series. Or I could base my choice on movies with the same director, or an actor, or a genre (like if there's a new horror movie out, I could choose an older horror movie). Or it could be a similar plot premise. Or... really, any number of things, some very tenuous (and not always about a movie coming out in theaters). Anyway, I've long mentioned this kind of thing in my reviews, and finally I thought it had become enough of a thing that maybe I should start a page just to list all the things I've watched at a particular time for these sorts of reasons. I won't include things I chose to watch because of Christmas (or any other holidays listed in my "holiday movies" section) or Halloween. But I guess other holidays are fair game for this page. Of course, I may fail to include things here if I've forgotten I had a reason for watching them when I did, and I failed to mention it in my reviews. (And I'll also choose not to include a few things here even if I did mention a reason for when I saw them, in my reviews... just because in retrospect, I don't feel like it matters.)

Also note that the years listed here of my having watched a movie may or may not be the first time I saw it; sometimes it's just the time I wrote a review of it after re-watching it.

Anyway, it's going to take me awhile to look through my old reviews to see what I need to include here.
