Christmas season 2016

May 18
This is Wednesday. I just watched this past Saturday's holiday episode of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, the third Hearth's Warming Eve episode. This one involved Twilight reading a story to Starlight that's obviously based on A Christmas Carol. (Though it started out kind of like "How the Grinch Stole Christmas.") And there were lots of good songs, and even a pony that looked like Professor Snape from the "Harry Potter" movies.

December 5
Today is Krampusnacht, so I've added some things to my Krampus in pop culture page. A number of appearances by Krampus in movies, comics, and a book, some of which are new this year and some older things I just discovered. Also some new Krampus links (or at least new to me), and I reorganized the links under different headings, instead of just alphabetically. (One link I had before, Krampus.com, doesn't seem to be working anymore, but I'm leaving the link on the page for now.) Also tonight I shall be watching the movie Krampus on DVD, since I didn't get to see it when it came out last year.

December 7
Watched Hairspray Live, which isn't Christmas-y, but you know, for the past few years I always consider NBC's live December musicals part of the holiday season.

December 8
Watched Taraji's White Hot Holidays. Also watched an episode of SciShow Kids about reindeer (aka caribou).

December 17
It's Saturday. I need to mention that last Saturday night, my computer stopped working. It was a few days before I could get it fixed, and after it did, our internet stopped working. So I haven't had internet for the past week, and I'm falling behind on all the things I want to do, like checking the Neopets advent calendar every day, and putting holiday episodes of shows I've watched this week on my Christmas episodes page. At the moment, I'm using the internet at my pastor's house, since he and his family are having their annual Christmas party today. But I won't get to do very much while I'm here. Anyway... I guess that's all I can say for now.

December 20
Yesterday (Monday the 19th) I went shopping. I got a few DVDs, including "Holiday Inn," which I've been wanting to get for at least the past few Christmases. Also a 4-disc set of 10 Christmas specials, some familiar to me and some not. Mainly wanted it for Frosty's Winter Wonderland, which never seems to air on TV anymore, that I know of. But a few of the other things in the set are good to have, too. Also I bought a mixpack of Shock Top, which includes a couple of familiar flavors and a couple I haven't had before, including Ginger Wheat and Cranberry Wheat. Oh yeah, and I went to the wine shop, hoping to find cranberry lambic, but they didn't have it (just raspberry and peach lambic, both of which I'm sure I'd like, but didn't want to get right now). But I think the failure to find cranberry lambic is what made me decide to buy the mixpack that had cranberry wheat ale, when I saw it later in another store. Anyway, I watched one of the specials- How the Grinch Stole Christmas- while drinking the cranberry ale. Later watched a non-holiday movie, and tried the ginger ale. Both beers were awesome.

Today I had to go in town again, for a non-shopping reason. But after that, I did go shopping again. One thing I got was a bottle of Kringle Cream. It has nothing to do with Christmas, but ever since I first saw it many months ago, I wanted to get it for Christmas, because it makes me think of Kris Kringle. And when we got home, our internet was finally working, after like a week of not working. So hopefully over the next few days I can catch up on things I've been wanting to do (some Christmas-related, some not). And this evening UPS delivered something my sister had ordered for me, a Christmas CD by Jane Lynch, which hopefully I'll listen to sometime soon.

December 21
Added entries on my Christmas episodes pages for this year's holiday eps of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, New Girl, The Real O'Neals, Speechless, and Blackish, all of which I watched when the aired during the past week or so when I didn't have internet. Later, I ate some gingerbread pita chips I bought the other day, while watching one of the Christmas specials on the DVDs that was previously unfamiliar to me, The Leprechauns' Christmas Gold.

December 22
I worked on updating my YouTube playlist of Christmas commercials. But before adding new ones, I had to find replacements for some ads from last year that had been deleted. Also, I started a little page for The Toycracker, an 8-minute Target commercial that I had watched on TV when it debuted on Dec. 11. Somewhere in the middle of all that, Mom and I went out to eat at Eureka with Grandma, Wayne, Kathleen, Alan, and Brenda. Anyway, I thought I might watch another special from the DVD set tonight, but after getting home I finished up the commercial stuff, which took longer than I expected (like a lot longer), so... now it's time for bed.

December 23
Added a few links to the main page of my Winter Holidays section. Also watched Pinocchio's Christmas, which kind of sucked. And then I watched The Stingiest Man in Town, which was kind of okay.

December 24
Watched the Christmas/Grafelnik episode of "Son of Zorn" that aired a couple weeks ago, on Fox.com, and added it to my Christmas eps page. Later, we all went to Grandma's for supper and a birthday party for my uncle Wayne. Later still, we went to church for the candlelight service, though I was getting depressed by then, and didn't stay for the whole thing. And when we got home, I just went to bed instead of watching a DVD, as I had intended to do. Didn't manage to get a lot of sleep, but I had no emotional energy to do anything.

December 25
Well, I got up, had some "Comfort & Joy" tea (a free sample that Republic of Tea had sent with a catalog awhile back). Scanned today's page from my Grumpy Cat calendar to put on my site. (Every day this month has been holiday-related, but I've only scanned a few of them.) Oh, and I checked out Cookie Clicker for the first time since my computer troubles, and found that all my previous progress had been lost. But I started fresh with some special Christmas stuff going on in the game. And eventually we went to Grandma's again for a meal that I'd say was somewhere between lunch and supper. And exchanged presents. And while waiting for the Christmas pud to finish cooking, I watched Frosty's Winter Wonderland on my DVD. After the pud, we came home. I had a headache, but I wasn't going to let that stop me from watching a movie, the way my depression did last night. So I watched Holiday Inn, while drinking my Kringle Cream. They were both pretty good. And now, damn am I ready for sleep.

December 26
Mom, Dad, Beth, and I opened presents at home this morning (because we've been too busy to do it the past two days). Later, we went to Grandma's again, for a turkey dinner.

December 27
The Christmas episode of "American Housewife" that aired earlier this month (which I missed) reran tonight, so I got to see it on TV instead of trying to watch it online. That was nice.

December 28
Went to see Rogue One with some relatives, and my cousin Josh paid for my ticket, so I guess we can call that a Christmas present. Later, I finally watched this year's Christmas ep of "Fresh off the Boat," so now I think I'm caught up on all things Christmas.

December 29
I watched Prancer.

December 31
One of the presents I got earlier this week was the comic book based on the movie "Krampus." It contains four short stories, and today I read the first of them. And then I watched Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas (another present), in the middle of re-watching the original movie.

January 2
Read the second story in the Krampus comic.

January 6
Read the last two stories in the Krampus comic. Considered writing a review of the comic, but I didn't really feel like it. I mean, it was okay, but... meh. Anyway, now I guess I consider Christmas over (until July).
