This is my fourth AMV for Avatar: The Last Airbender, made in May 2006. I used the song "Yeti" by The Flash Girls. I never gave the vid a title other than the name of the song, and I can't think of one now, either. Anyway, I've been a fan of the Flash Girls since the mid-90s (though the duo no longer exists). And it was a cool happenstance that when I made the vid nine years ago and posted it in the "Avatar Vids" LJ group, another member turned out to be a fan of the duo, and replied "Infinite number of cool points for using Flash Girls. Infinite!" (Incidentally, I should say it's useful to be able to read my posts in the old Avatar LJ groups, because otherwise I'd have no idea precisely when I made any of my vids. But beyond mere practicality, it's really fun and nostalgic to read both the things I said when posting my vids, and the replies.)
I've always had mixed feelings about this vid. I kind of like it, but mainly that's just because I like the song. Thematically, I feel like I failed... I mean, there isn't really any consistency. The song is a humorous story of a search for a yeti, with a twist ending. And that's pretty much what I wanted the vid to be about, too. But to do it properly, I should have had a specific idea all along about what character from "Avatar" was going to turn out to be the yeti, in the end, and thrown in a few misdirects throughout the video, up until the final reveal. I didn't really do that. There's kind of a yeti stand-in at the end of the vid, but it doesn't make sense and as I said, there was no consistency. (It really should have been Appa. But it's not.) Mostly what I did was just try as best I could to match scenes (vaguely) with specific lyrics. Sometimes I think I did pretty well with that, and sometimes not. But either way, it was all totally random, so... there's no story to it, no narrative. So I'm disappointed with my effort, I feel like I could have done much better. Still, I think the vid is kind of fun, but again, all credit for that must go to the Flash Girls for their awesome song, which I mostly failed to do justice.
Also, I apparently forgot to include a closing title card when I made the vid, nor did I ever add one later, for some reason. But one thing I learned from reading my old LJ post was that this was the first vid where I used fade in/fade out effects between clips. So I guess that's something.
